Responsibilities

  • • Database Administration: Manage, configure, and support multiple database platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.) in production and development environments to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security. 
  • • Database Performance Tuning: Perform performance tuning and troubleshooting for databases to ensure high availability and responsiveness. Analyze system performance and proactively apply changes for optimal performance. 
  • • Backup and Recovery: Utilize appropriate backup and recovery strategies (including Oracle RMAN) to ensure minimal downtime and data loss. 
  • • High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Administer high-availability setups and disaster recovery solutions like Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, and similar solutions for other databases. 
  • • Exadata Operations: Manage the day-to-day operations of Oracle Exadata systems, ensuring their optimal performance, stability, and availability. This includes routine monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, and tuning of Exadata hardware and software to support high-performance database environments. 
  • • Middleware Solutions: Manage and support Oracle WebLogic Server and other middleware solutions, ensuring seamless integration with database systems. 
  • • Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts for database maintenance, monitoring, and reporting using tools such as shell scripting, PL/SQL, and other database-specific utilities. 
  • • Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM): Administer and optimize Oracle Enterprise Manager for monitoring and alerting, ensuring quick identification and resolution of database issues. 
  • • Database Security: Implement and manage database security features, including encryption, auditing, and access controls. Monitor and resolve security vulnerabilities and risks in database environments to safeguard sensitive data and ensure compliance with security standards and regulations. 
  • • Patching & Updates: Plan and execute database patching, updates, and version upgrades to ensure that the database environment is secure, stable, and up-to-date. This includes applying patches for critical security vulnerabilities and system improvements while minimizing downtime and disruptions. 
  • • Collaboration & Support: Work closely with other teams (e.g., network, security, application) to ensure the efficient operation of databases and middleware services. Provide expert support for incident and problem management. 
  • • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation on database configurations, security policies, patch management, procedures, and standards.

Must Have

  • • At least 5 years of experience in database administration in a production environment, with a proven track record of performance tuning, troubleshooting, database security management, and patching.
  • o Expertise in database platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
  • o Experience with Oracle RMAN, backup and recovery processes.
  • o Strong experience in Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, and Oracle Exadata.
  • o Proficiency in Oracle WebLogic Server and other middleware solutions.
  • o In-depth knowledge of database security, including encryption, auditing, and access management.
  • o Experience with patching databases, including applying critical patches and updates with minimal downtime.
  • o Experience with Linux and Unix operating systems, including scripting and automation.
  • o Hands-on experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring and performance management.
  • o Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery solutions for databases.
  • o Experience in database capacity planning, monitoring, and performance tuning.
  • • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • • Certifications: Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional (OCP) or similar certifications preferred.
